Depressariidae

36 species. Medium sized moths most of which are in the Depressaria and Agonopterix genera having a distinctly dorso-ventrally flattened form enabling them to creep into narrow crevices to hide in the day and many to hibernate as imagines. Some can be found in garages and outhouses during the winter.

Their very active larvae feed in spinnings in leaves, shoots, flowers and seed heads especially of Umbelliferae (Apiaceae) and Compositae (Asteraceae). The few in other genera feed in spun leaves of trees and shrubs and 1 probably on dead wood.
