Fairly common but very local resident in two areas of the Wye Valley only.

Centaurea nigra, Cirsium spp. and Carduus spp., Arctium spp. with larva feeding from May to July, at first mining a leaf, and later in a web under a thistle or burdock leaf, or in a rolled leaf of knapweed. Distinguished from A. subpropinquella & , A. propinquella by the black anal plate.
