New to Britain 2025 in Norfolk, possibly overlooked, being rapidly found in many counties. New to Staffordshire and the region, Wolverhampton, August 2026.

Egg laid on underside of leaf. Mines the stems and petiole of Black Poplar variants and othe Poplar spp., forming a long gallery, then pupates under a small leaf edge curl.

Note: The ABH number is provisional, the empirical review announcing P. extrematrix has yet to be published.

Recording: It is not yet possible to record this species on iRecord as a species; however, it is possible to record as 'Phyllocnistinae' and enter the species name in the comment of the record. It is possible to record on iNaturalist.

Determination by Genitalia Examination (gen. det.) Required

Mine: Either the leaf or a good photograph required
