Locally common on higher ground where the foodplant occurs.

Mines the leaves of cowberry, Vaccinium vitis-idaea, from October to April, with a second brood in July in some locations. Forms a mine on the underside which will often occupy the whole leaf, causing it to become convex on the upper surface. Mines are typically found on smaller plants growing amongst heather.
