From a rarity at the start of the millennium, it is now becoming fairly common and increasing it's range into Staffordshire.

Alnus glutinosa and occasionally A. incana or A. cordata with larva feeding in May/June and August/September. At first in a blotch on the underside of a leaf, later in a small fold on the margin. Pupates in a white cocoon in a folded down leaf edge.
