Common resident.

Acer peudoplatanus, with larva feeding in June/July and August/September initially in a small mine in the underside of a leaf, and then in a succession of cones made by rolling down leaf lobes.

Adults can usually be distinguished by the dark brown or black femur and tibia with narrow whitish bands, which are in contrast to the forewing.

Note: With new Acer-feeding Caloptilia species establishing in the UK, extra care should be taken with identification.
