Very common resident of moorland, hills and heathy woodland with bilberry, and slightly less common in orchards, hedges and woodland.

On many trees and shrubs, especially Vaccinium myrtillus, Ilex aquifolium, Prunus spinosa with larva feeding in May/June in spun terminal shoots.
